As a new author, I’ve been told that I need to be on social media. I get it. The way the publishing world is today, you have to be able to market yourself.
And, I am on social media. However, sometimes I feel weird blowing my own horn.
So, I’m going to suck it up and play my social media tune. Here are my Facebook and Twitter links. If you’re so inclined please LIKE and FOLLOW. It’s greatly appreciated!
Of course, following my blog is also an accepted form of social media as well. So, feel free to do that as well.
Thank you for reading my plea and for doing any of the above. I promise not to post anything like this in the future as I feel painfully guilty doing it.
Does anyone else have a problem with this?
Yours in shameless self promotion,
RG

Don’t feel shameless, have confidence in your work. You don’t have to beg, just put it out there and ask. Eventually people join. At least that is what I’ve found. Get involved in those LinkedIn groups I told you about. It helps to have support.

That is the idea of social media, to direct people to your choices of media. Blowing your own horn is also acceptable, as long as you blow others’ horns also (RT on Twitter, etc.)
We are already following each other on Twitter, but this got my attention and I retweeted your tweet about this blog post!

Thanks Gail. I think a lot of it is how I was raised. Be humble and don’t brag. I’m having to relearn what the precocious child in me had no problem doing.
RT’g is a great way to promote each other and I need to be better about getting on Twitter and doing just that.
